How do RIVERS Change their Shape Over Time?

Our Fabulous 5th graders observed how moving water breaks down the banks of rivers over time changing its shape.  This force causes erosion and carries sediment to  different locations.  We saw how new chutes and even ox bow lakes can be formed by this process.  New landforms, called DELTAS, often form at the mouth of rivers when sediment is dropped into the ocean.  This process is called DEPOSITION.
